Cycling holidays and mountain biking
Viborg Trail Arena has created Denmark's longest trail course, which is "100 kilometers of MTB trails around Viborg."
If you are on a cycling holiday, Hjarbæk Fjord Camping is a good starting point. Here you can enjoy scenic experiences and cozy pitches with shelter or views over Hjarbæk Fjord.
Whether you arrive with a tent, caravan or motorhome, have we a place for you. You can also rent one of our cozy camping cabins, rental cars or shelters.

The Himmerlands Path
Viborg is the second Danish municipality with the most high-quality footpaths after Silkeborg. More than 200 km of car-free footpaths start from Viborg.
The Himmerlandsstien is built on the disused railway line between Viborg and Løgstør.
There is access for cyclists, hikers and horse riders. The path is paved with stone flour and there is access for horseback riding next to the path.
The path goes through varying and scenic landscapes, alternating between hilly moraine landscapes, heaths, fjord-close meadows and large meltwater valleys. Such a nature trail is traffic-safe and has low gradients – a good alternative to cycling holidays on the country roads.
The Heart Path
The Heart Trail in Hjarbæk is 7,2 km long.
The tour starts at the campsite next to the reception and is divided into two circles. About halfway through you will be back at the campsite before the tour heads towards Hjarbæk Fjord, the summer house area Fuglekvarteret and Hjarbæk town.
You can pick up a map of the route at reception or take a map from the white box on the wall by reception.
Golf and camping
At Hjarbæk Fjord Camping you can combine your camping holiday with a good round of golf at Hjarbæk Fjord Golf Club.
The golf courses at Hjarbæk Fjord Golf Club are always highly praised, both by the club's own members, but also by other players from both Denmark and abroad. Primarily due to the difficulty of the course, its physical condition, and not least the beautiful view.
Bring your equipment in the caravan and have a good round of golf, combined with a nice camping holiday 🙂

Canoeing and SUP
Enjoy Hjarbæk Fjord on the water by going camping by canoe.
Borrow a canoe or a SUP board and set sail. Maybe you'll meet one of the beautiful Sjægter or spot a seal on Hjarbæk Fjord.
We have our own beach, where you can be sure to have a special experience. Enjoy the scenery gliding past and the sun setting (or maybe even rising!) in the beautiful water. Follow the wind, the waves and the rhythm of the water in your own personal experience at Hjarbæk Fjord.
Please contact reception if you would like to borrow a canoe or rent a SUP-board for DKK 100 per hour and paddle out on Hjarbæk Fjord. It's incredibly beautiful and peaceful.
(Canoeing is free if you stay overnight or are a regular at the campsite – day guests can rent canoes for 100,- per hour)
Sea kayak
Hjarbæk Fjord is doing really well from the water side.
If you have a sea kayak, you can set off from the beach just below the campsite, after which you have access to the entire fjord.
There are many places to visit when you see the entire area from the water side – inot least the cozy onee port in Hjarbæk, where the Commission can add and take one walk in the port area and chat with the locals.
You can sea kayak all year round on the fjord. In winter you can come in your own caravan, or rent one of our heated cabins. If you rent “The little house by Hjarbæk Fjord” You have first parking space for your kayak, which can be put into the water 30 meters from the house.
Angling
Hjarbæk Fjord is the southernmost part of the Limfjord, and is located approximately 10 km north of Viborg and 20 km east of Skive.
The shallow Hjarbæk Fjord has inlets from four streams. In the south from Fiskbæk Å, to the northwest Jordbro Å, and on the east side Skals Å and Simested Å. If you are an angler, there are many opportunities here, especially at the 4 streams. Fishing licenses must be purchased from the Viborg Sports Fishing Association or at the campsite at the reception.
Karup Å is primarily known for its powerful and large sea trout. Every year, sea trout weighing more than 10 kilos are caught, something that only a few rivers in the world can achieve.
All anglers between the ages of 18 and 65 must have a valid state fishing license to fish in Danish fishing waters, except for PUT & TAKE lakes.
